About Us

HackHayward, hosted at California State University, East Bay, is the first collegiate hackathon in the Hayward, California area. We challenge students to work collaboratively within a limited timeframe to ideate, create, and pitch their solutions to tackle real-world issues within the hackathon's timeframe. Our hackathon will be hosted in person at California State University, East Bay during March 2025, and we are expecting over 200 participants.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower underrepresented students passionate about technology by providing hands-on learning experiences, networking opportunities, and innovative project development through hackathons. We aim to pave the way for their success in the evolving technological landscape by offering comprehensive skill development and professional connections.

What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is an event where participants come together and create a solution for a track presented in the event within a timeframe!

Who’s allowed to sign up?

Anyone who is in College/University or Highschooler above the age of 18 is invited to sign-up!

How long will HackHayward last?

We will be hacking on March 1st and 2nd with submission in the AM on March 2nd. Plenty of time to work on your project! Some workshops planned.

What does it cost to join?

Nothing! HackHayward is a free event. Everyone is invited!

Are teams required?

They are encouraged not mandatory. Team up, find friends, make the best of this event! Teams are up to 4 people.

What can be submitted?

Any projects, technical or not, created within the hacking event schedule!

What do I need to bring to the event?

Picture ID, clothing (if you plan on staying over), water bottle, personal devices (laptop or PC), and chargers!

What if I have no experience?

This event is still for you! No technical experience or not majoring in Computer Science? You are still invited! Create creative solutions to the problems in the Hackathon! Calling all Engineering, Business, Computer Science, and every creative mind in between—ignite your potential at our event! Not in a team yet? No worries—the kickoff networking session is your chance to spark connections and form your dream squad.

What is HackHayward?

The first hackathon in Hayward, organized by CSU East Bay Students for all students in the Bay Area about to take place this coming March 1st and 2nd! Aimed towards spreading awareness for marginalized communities, we are open to everyone!
